Naked Baby Photo Shoot

My sweet boy is growing up too fast.  He is pretty much sitting up on his own now, and has fallen in love with his reflection.  He will stare in the mirror and squeal; it's the cutest thing I've ever seen.  I decided yesterday that I needed to take naked baby pics, so while Daddy was mowing the yard, me and Mason had a photo shoot :)

And then Brother Bo came to join us...he loves to lay on the bed and look out the window.

And then this happened...

Mom, where are my clothes?!
I'm sure one day I'll use these pics to embarrass Mason in front of his first girlfriend.

Family Pics

A few months ago, we won a free photo shoot at our home from the fabulous Amy Boston.  She got some amazing shots of our family and I am so thankful to have these photos to document our home and new baby boy.  Here are a couple of my faves.

She captured so many fun moments that day, but my absolute favorite is from a field down the road from our house - it's full of tiny yellow flowers and I've never even noticed it!  It was the perfect spot for a family photo.  Since it's my favorite, I knew I had to have it BIG somewhere in my house.  Well, that solution also came through Amy when she posted about a custom frame shop she works with, Cottonwood Frames.  I found the perfect shape, the perfect size, the perfect color (a custom green paint color Amy helped me select) and emailed Amy my order.  The frame arrived last week, I popped in the enlarged print I ordered from Shutterfly and instantly fell in love!

Big Boy Tub

Last night, we decided to try out the bath seat that my Aunt recently passed onto us and give Mason a bath in the big bathtub.  Now that he weighs over 18 pounds, he fills out his mini tub from top to bottom, and splashes water all over the kitchen with every little move.  I was afraid that he wouldn't know what to do, but he had a ball!

Hmmm...what can I get into???

I'll just chew on this rubber duck!

DIY Projects

Just like every other crazy woman in America, I have fallen victim to Pinterest.  (You can follow me here.)   I have found some awesome DIY projects, recipes, party ideas, and so much more.  I have pinned so many ideas, and have decided that I need to actually follow through and try some of them...so, we took off a few days last week for the 4th and I tried a couple out.  Here's what I accomplished.

This is in Mason's bathroom.  I bought these cute dog butt hooks at Ikea a few months ago, and then found a cute weiner dog silhouette canvas on Pinterest, and knew they'd be the perfect combo.  I finally got around to buying a canvas at Hobby Lobby last week.  I'm pretty pleased with the results.  I have another canvas that I plan to paint a fire hydrant on.

This one's really nothing special, but I love it!  I used blue painter's tape and measured out my canvas, then painted everything that wasn't taped.  I also bought a small wooden F at Hobby Lobby that I plan to paint either red or bright green and attach to the bottom corner.  Now, if I can just find some bright modern fabrics to re-cover my pillows.

Mason loves to play!

Mason is definitely a busy body, and does not miss a beat.  He loves to play with his toys, bounce in his horse, play on his jungle gym, read books and rock.  He's really taking in his surroundings and getting to know this big, big world around him.  Here are some shots of his favorite activities.

He will bounce for hours!

Mason loves a good book.

Daddy thought I needed ALL my toys.

Mason has started sitting up on his own in the past week, but tends to fall forward.  Tonight, Daddy discovered a new use for the fabulous Boppy and wrapped it around Mason like a donut.  He sat in the floor and played forever!  Then, he had to eat some green beans and take a nap...such a hard life!

The Baby Eats Food!

Ok, so he wasn't crazy about cereal but man does this fat kid love green beans, carrots, peas, peaches, apples...the list goes on and on!
Such a happy (hungry) baby.

How Time Flies

Wow!  Have I really not posted anything since May?!  This crazy busy life of being a mom is kicking my booty...although I could also blame Pinterest for eating up all of my "free" time.

Just to catch you up to speed, here are some quick Mason updates:

  • rolls over from back to tummy
  • eats baby food - loves peas!
  • weighs over 18 pounds
  • laughs and grins all day
  • jumps in his horse bouncer for hours
I will try my best to post something real this week (I have plenty to share with you)...like planning an engagement party for my wonderful brother-in-law and his sweet fiancĂ©, around the house DIY projects, ideas for my future ETSY store, etc. etc.

Hope you had a fabulous 4th and weekend!  It's back to the real world tomorrow.
